Associations & Forums - PA College of Engineering, Mangalore

Along with strengthening the academic background of the students, PACE also strives on their overall development and exposure. Each department has formed associations or forums which conducts various seminars, workshops, industry visits and exhibitions. Such associations also arranges talks by eminent personalities across various industries and thus help the students to be in line with the latest trends and opportunities in the area and thus play a major role in the overall development of the students.

At college level, we have following Associations / forums:

ISTE, IEEE, NSS, CSI, YOUNG FARMERS CLUB.

GREEN CAMPUS INITIATIVES

PACE Campus is blessed to have a lush and green campus with more than 6000 Trees spread across 60 Acres. Also the Rain Water Harvesting facility in the campus adds to the beauty. Though Green Campus Initiatives were at place for quite a long time, there was a vigorous move on this front since March 2020. The following gardens are established till date during this period. The Young Farmers Club is an enthusiastic group of Staff Students interested in farming and gardening. The club was instrumental in the development of the various gardens in the campus. The World Environment Day was celebrated during the Year 2020 and 2021, with some activities and competitions.

MIXED TREES GARDEN

(On the Sloping Mountain in front of Ladies Hostel and around the play ground) An existing garden with a variety of trees like Neem, Honge, Mango, Honne, Bete, Rosewood, Punerpoli, Bread fruit , Dhoop, Bay laurel leaf tree (biriyani leaf tree)and Jack fruit.

On June 6 2020, day of Vanamahotsavsa, another 100 trees were planted which includes Sandal,Teak, Mahagony, Bilwapatre (Wood Apple), Guava, Indian Soap Berry, Indian Black Berry, Rose Apple, Custard Apple and Mangos. Also another 50 Arcaenut Trees are planted here. Later around 500 trees of above species and above were planted on this slopy mountain and around the entire playground in the campus in association with the Forest Department.

MIXED FRUIT GARDEN

(A garden made during June 2020 with around 150 trees of various fruits like Rambutan, Varieties of Mango, Sugar Apple, Butterfruit, Pepper Creepers, Pepper Bush Shower Shop, Gumless Jackfruit

Red Jackfruit, Thailand Jackfruit,

Mangosteen ,Guava, Eggfruit Cocoa, Drumstick, Cashewnut etc.

THE DRAGON FRUIT GARDEN

A garden made during June 2020 with around 40 trees of Dragon Fruit

THE VEGETABLE GARDEN

A garden which can give the basic vegetables required in the hostel. Brought up on the backyard of the boys hostel.

THE HERBAL GARDEN

The Herbal Garden is meant for bringing up plants, shrubs, trees, creepers with medicinal values like Pepper, Ginger, Aloevera, Murayya etc. This Garden is brought up in front of PACP.

Aim and Objective:

(The major objective of the ISTE is to provide quality training programmes to teachers and administrators of technical institutions to update their knowledge and skills in their fields of activity and to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians needed by the industry and other organisations.

2020-21 PHYSICS 1.The department of Basic Sciences in association with ISTE (PACE Chapter) organized an invited talk on Emerging Technologies: an Overview by the Chief Guest, Mr. Sabarinath Venugopalan 0N 19TH MAY 2021
2.Phoenix-21:The department of basic science in association with Dept.of Placement and Training under the aegis of ISTE organised an expert talk on “Pursuing Engineering career in the New Normalby Akbar Arakkal,Telecom officer,Qatar Petroleum on 03rd June,2021
2019-20 CSE The ASCII, Association of Computer Science and Engineering department in association with ISTE organised a two day workshop on "Emerging Applications of Machine Leaning using Python" on 12th and 13th November 2019.
2019-20 ME Autotech, a workshop on recent trends in automobile industry was conducted in the premises of P.A College of Engineering for Diploma Students of Mangalore Polytechnics, on 14th October 2019 by Department of Mechanical Engineering in association with ISTE PACE STUDENTS CHAPTER and Candour Autotech Pvt. Ltd., Trivandrum.                
2. On 11th July 2020, the Department of Mechanical Engineering, in association with Entrepreneurship Club& ISTE PACE CHAPTER, PACE Mangalore, conducted a webinar on "Engineers as Entrepreneurs
2018-19 CSE The ASCII, Student Forum of Computer Science & Engineering, in association with ISTE, P.A.College of Engineering Mangalore, organized an invited talk on 10 th April 2019.
2018-19 ME An invited talk on ‘Securing yourself in cyberspace’ was jointly organized by ISTE Chapter and Computational & Simulation Club (CSC) of Mechanical EngineeringDepartment, P.A. College of Engineering Mangaluru on 11 th April 2019 in the multipurpose hall.      
2. Centre of Excellence for Research Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CERIE)  in association with Indian Society of Technical Education *(ISTE) Student Chapter*  organized a One Day International Workshop on  Research, Writing, and Publishing in Reputed Journals on  27 July 2019 at P. A College of Engineering  Mangaluru
2017-18 EE “Project presentation- KAUSHAL” under the banner of ISTE – PACE Chapter was conducted on 15 th May 2018

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME

About NSS

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth of Technical Institution, Graduate & Post Graduate at colleges and University level of India to take part in various government led community service activities & programs. The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service.

OBJECTIVES

A NSS volunteer who takes part in the community service program. Being an active member these student volunteers would have the exposure and experience to be the following:

  • Understand the community in which they work.
  • Understand themselves in relation to their community.
  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
  • Develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems
  • Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and practice national integration and social harmony.

ABOUT CSI – COMPUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA

Computer Society of India (CSI) is the first and largest body of computer professionals in India. It was started on 6th March 1965 by a few computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals. The Computer Society of India Academic Institutional Membership (M10749) & Student Branch Chapter at PACE started on 1st March 2020. Under the banner of CSI, we have conducted various webinar in data science and machine learning during the year 2020.

Purpose

The purposes of the PACE IEEE Student Branch are as follows:

  • To promote excellence in engineering and the role of engineers in developing the quality of life.
  • To encourage professionalism and professional registration among power engineering students and engineering staff, and to instill a code of engineering ethics in the engineering community.
  • To develop and implement activities that promoting awareness of career opportunities and the role of professional engineers in society.
  • To provide orientation and guidance for new power engineering students by providing a communication link with other students and an opportunity to work for common goals.  
  • To work as a coordinating body with other technical societies on campus to produce integrated extra-curricular activities particularly
  • To develop the funds necessary to achieve these purposes.
