ONE DAY DESIGN AWARENESS/ORIENTATION PROGRAMMEON DESIGN AND INNOVATION UNDER DESIGN CLINIC SCHEME

 

On 25th October 2015 a “ONE DAY DESIGN AWARENESS/ORIENTATION PROGRAMME ON DESIGN AND INNOVATION UNDER DESIGN CLINIC SCHEME” was held in P A College of Engineering.

The programme was jointly organized by the ministry of MSME (Micro Small and Medium Scale Enterprises) Centre of Excellence, IISc - Bengaluru, Branch MSME DI (Development Institute) – Mangaluru and CERI (Centre of Excellence for Research and Innovation), P A College of Engineering – Mangaluru.

The programme was an initiative to create general awareness and sensitization about the value and power of ‘Design and Innovation”. The objective of the programme was to brief about innovation, financial assistances, marketing assistances, IPR (Intellectual Property Rights), Business Incubators, Quality Management Programmes, Subsidies and Reimbursement schemes under the ministry of MSME for the students and faculty members with innovative ideas.

The formal Inaugural function was held at 09:30 AM in the presence of Chief Guest – Mr.Srinivas M Jamakhandi (Director, MSME Centre of Excellence, IISc – Bengaluru), Resource persons – Mr.Anandamurthy H V (Dy. Director, MSME Centre of Excellence, IISc – Bengaluru), Mr. K Socrates (Dy. Director, Branch MSME DI – Mangaluru), Mr.Sundar S M (Asst. Director, Branch MSME DI – Mangaluru), Presiding Guest – Dr. Abdul Sharief (Principal, PACE), Dr. Antony A J (Dean (Student Affairs), PACE), Executive Committee members Prof. Surfraz Hasim J (Director (Academics), PACE), Dr. Ramis MK (Vice – Principal, PACE) and Dr. Zahid Ansari (Dean (Research), PACE), Staff Coordinators - Prof. Jamil Ahmed SK (Dept. of CSE, PACE) and Prof. Mohan Kumar (Dept. of MECH, PACE) along with the HOD of all the branches of engineering in PACE, faculty members, student coordinators and participants from the engineering colleges in Mangaluru region.

The Chief Guest – Mr.Srinivas M Jamakhandi delivered the inaugural speech by quoting “students are the diamonds of tomorrow” and appreciated the ambience in P A College of Engineering for learning. He enlightened the gathering about the need for transforming the ideas in to innovation. Later the program was inaugurated by the chief guest by launching the banner of the program digitally.

Following the inaugural function the first and second sessions of the programme were commenced at 10:30 PM. Mr.Srinivas M Jamakhandi delivered a talk on Awareness on Business Incubation, Business ideas- Selection, Funding, Submission etc. The session was completely interactive and the morning session was concluded by the question and answer session where the participants interacted with the resource persons from MSME.

After the lunch break the afternoon session of the programme commenced at 01:30 PM.  The resource person for the session 3 was Mr.Sundar S M who addressed the gathering on the schemes from the Design Clinic for the young innovative minds and detailed the procedure for applying for the fundings under the scheme. 

The Valedictory function for the programme was held at 04:00 PM following the afternoon session. After hearing the report of the day’s programme and getting the feedback from the participants and the resource persons Mr. Abdulla Ibrahim (Executive Director, PAET) delivered the valedictory remark. He encouraged the students and faculty members to be actively involved in the process of innovative thinking and assured all sorts of support from the management of the college. Dr. Abdul Sharief addressed the gathering in his presidential remark and conveyed the students to increase their understandings of basic principles in their respective domains which will layup a strong basement for their innovative thoughts.

Dr. Ramis M K concluded the valedictory function by honouring the guests by presenting mementos, distributing certificates to the participants, students and staff coordinators followed by a closing remark explaining the success of the programme.
