VGST-CISEE(2015-16) Research Grant (INR30 Lakhs) Awarded to Dr. Zahid Ansari

Government of
Karnataka Vision Group on Science and Technology selected the research
proposal submitted by Dr.Zahd Ansari, Professor(Department of CSE) and Dean
(Research), P.A. College of Engineering, Mangalore,for the award of VGST
research grant for the “Establishment of Centres of Innovative Science &
Engineering Education”(CISEE). The proposal isapproved by the VGST- Chairman,
Bharat Ratna,Prof.C.N.R. Rao and the authorities from the Departments of IT,
BT and S&T. The main objective
of CISEE funding scheme is to strengthen infrastructural facilities and to
promote the research on local problems. This scheme provides the funding up
to Rupees 30 lakhs (10 lakhs per year, for a maximum period of three years).
The proposed research work focuses on designing a “High Performance Computing
Framework for Efficient Discovery of Useful Patterns from Large Agricultural
and Medial Data Using Soft Computing” with the objective of reducing the
computational cost and improving the quality of discovered patterns for the
purpose medical diagnosis and evaluation of agricultural products. The PhD
Scholars and faculty members would be greatly benefited to pursue their
research. Many thanks to the VGST- Chairman, Bharat Ratna,Prof.C.N.R. Rao and
the authorities from the Departments of IT, BT and S&T for accepting the
proposal for CISEE award.This support will go a long way to build research
and innovation getting the centre focus. Several people have provided
instrumental support in bringing this proposal in existence, namely to
acknowledge are the management of PACE, most notably the Chairman, Dr. P.A.
Ibrahim, Executive Director Mr.P.A.Abdullah and the Director (Admin) Mr. K.M.
Haneef. Laudable efforts were made to make this proposal to see the reality
by Principal, Dr. Abdul Sharief, and Vice Principal Dr.Ramis MK and Director
Academics SurfrazHasim. The huge contribution to prepare this proposal is
from Prof. Ahmed Rimaz, Prof. Asif Afza, Prof.Tanvir H. Sardar, Office
Superintendent Mr. Abdul Khadar. and in general all colleagues from Dept. of
