AICTE-SANKALP Workshop on High Performance Computing

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in collaboration with AICTE, IEEE WIE, and IEEE CS, successfully organized a workshop on High Performance Computing (HPC) on October 29, 2024, as part of the AICTE-SANKALP initiative.
Dr. H L Shashirekha, Professor at Mangalore University and a recognized master trainer by CDAC, served as the resource person. The event began with an inauguration by Dr. Sharmila Kumari M, Vice Principal and Head of CSE, and a welcome address by Ms. Ankitha Bekal, Assistant Professor.
Fifty-nine students and seven faculty members from the CSE Department attended the workshop. Dr. Shashirekha emphasized the importance of HPC in modern computing, covering HPC advantages and applications, supercomputers, clustered computing systems, parallel programming paradigms, multi-threaded programming, OpenMP, MPI, multicore processing, GPUs, CUDA programming, and its applications. She also highlighted the crucial role of HPC in achieving accurate results in advanced computing.
The workshop concluded with presidential remarks by Dr. Ramis M K, Principal of PACE, who highlighted the potential societal impact of HPC knowledge. Students actively interacted with Dr. Shashirekha, gaining valuable insights into the field.
