Celebrating Heritage and Sustainability: Food Lore and Beyond

The Social Connect and Responsibility Committee (SCR) of PACE organized Food Lore and Beyond on 10 December 2024 at the PACE Auditorium. The event was designed to celebrate cultural heritage and promote sustainability while fostering creativity and teamwork among students. Second-Year BE students from various engineering disciplines participated enthusiastically, showcasing their dedication to the themes of cultural preservation and environmental consciousness.
The event commenced with a warm welcome to the Chief Guest, Mr. Shiras Valappil, Product Owner & Business Analyst from Newcastle, Australia, and India Advisory Committee Member of Newcastle University. His presence set the tone for an inspiring and insightful experience.

A vibrant exhibition highlighted the diversity of Indian food and crafts, showcasing the country’s rich culinary and artistic traditions. Alongside the exhibition, students presented posters and videos addressing socially and environmentally significant themes, including plantation drives, heritage walks, organic farming, waste management, water conservation, and food lore. These creative presentations reflected the students awareness of pressing global issues and their innovative solutions.

The event culminated in a prize distribution ceremony, where the efforts of the participants were celebrated. BE Civil Engineering students secured the First Prize, followed by BE Biotechnology students in second place and BE AI & ML students in third place.

The Chief Guest, Mr. Shiras Valappil, shared valuable insights on the importance of blending tradition with innovation to tackle contemporary challenges. Principal Dr. Ramis M K commended the participants and organizers for their dedication, while Vice Principal Dr. Sharmila Kumari announced the winners, acknowledging their achievements. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Laila Jaseela A, Coordinator of SCR PACE, expressing gratitude to all who contributed to its success.

The event concluded with the National Anthem, leaving participants inspired to carry forward the spirit of social responsibility and environmental stewardship. Food Lore and Beyond served as a meaningful platform to connect heritage with sustainability and encouraged students to make a positive impact on society and the environment.
