Faculty Development Program on "Deep Learning, Intelligent Video Analytics & Computer Vision"

The Department of AIML at P.A. College of Engineering, Mangalore, successfully conducted an Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) titled "Deep Learning, Intelligent Video Analytics & Computer Vision" from 21st January to 27th January 2025. This programme, approved by AICTE and organized under ATAL, aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of emerging AI technologies and their applications in academia and research.
The event received 233 registrations, with an impressive 160+ participants consistently attending all sessions, reflecting high engagement and enthusiasm. Over six days, 13 meticulously planned sessions were delivered by distinguished speakers and resource persons*, covering fundamental and advanced topics in AI and video analytics:
T.S. Dr. Hasan Firdaus Bin Mohd Zaki: Sessions on *Introduction to Deep Learning and Object Detection on Videos, providing foundational insights into AI and video analytics.
Dr. Ahmed Rimaz Faizabadi: Covered *OpenCV and Video Analytics in Intelligent Transport Systems, focusing on real-world applications.
Dr. Ahmad Jazlan Bin Haja Mohideen: Delivered sessions on *Python for Deep Learning and Introduction to Embedded AI, enhancing participants programming skills.
Dr. Zulkifli Bin Zainal Abidin: Lectured on *PyTorch Classification and Development of Custom Object Detectors for Aerial Drones, emphasizing state-of-the-art AI techniques.
Dr. Muhammad Afif Bin Husman: Provided insights into *Transfer Learning and Intelligent Analytics for Mini Projects, showcasing practical AI implementations.
Mr. Yousef Abd Alhattab: Conducted sessions on *Video Segmentation Applications and MLOps, introducing participants to advanced machine learning operations.
Dr. Asif Afzal: Concluded the FDP with a session on *How to Comprehend Computer Vision Research Papers, guiding participants in academic research contributions.
Each session combined theoretical knowledge with practical insights, enabling participants to apply their learnings in research and professional settings. The FDP also included an *online test* and *feedback session*, enhancing interaction and assessing learning outcomes.
Valedictory Ceremony & Participant Feedback:
The Valedictory Ceremony of the FDP was conducted on 27th January 2025 at 07:15 PM via Google Meet. The event was coordinated by Dr. Mohammed Zakir B and co-hosted by Prof. Afsar Baig.
The Chief Guest, Mr. Vijay Huddar, Applied Science Manager at Amazon, Bengaluru, shared insights on the impact of AI in modern applications and congratulated the participants for their active engagement.
