The valedictory function of the three-day workshop "Transforming Biomedicine: The Power of AI & ML Application in the Future of Healthcare" was held on July 20, 2024, in the Computer Centre 2. This event marked the conclusion of an intensive series of sessions that delved into the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) within the realms of biomedicine and healthcare. Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in numerous sessions, discussions, and hands-on workshops, significantly enhancing their understanding of the transformative potential of AI and ML in the healthcare industry. The workshop showcased cutting-edge technologies and their promising applications, highlighting the substantial impact these innovations can have on healthcare.
The distinguished attendees included Dr. Roshan Joy Martis, Associate Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Global Academy of Technology, who graced the occasion as the chief guest. The event was presided over by Dr. Sharmila Kumari, Vice Principal of PACE. Other notable guests of honor were Mr. Sayyed Ameen, Dean (Student Affairs) at PAET, Dr. Krishnaprasad, Head of the Department of Biotechnology, and Dr. Asif Hassan, Head of the Department of Electronics and Communications. The workshop was meticulously coordinated by Dr. Mohammed Zakir, Co-ordinator of the Workshop, along with Dr. Shareefraju J. Ukkund, Coordinator of Workshop. Participants from the Biotechnology (BT), Electronics and Communication (EC), Computer Science (CS), and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML) departments provided positive feedback.
They highlighted the workshop as a valuable opportunity to upskill, emphasizing the richness of the sessions and the practical, hands-on experience gained. External participant Prof. Mubeena Perveen Taj, Associate Professor in the ECE Department at Bearys Institute of Technology, Mangalore, also praised the workshop. In his address, the chief guest, Dr. Roshan Joy Martis, motivated students to leverage IEEE platforms and pursue innovation. He thanked the management, principal, and coordinators for organizing a workshop that catered to a diverse group of students from four departments. He also noted the high level of student engagement, which he viewed as a testament to the workshops success. Dr. Sharmila Kumari urged students to apply the knowledge gained towards further research and skill development. Mr. Sayyed Ameen encouraged students to utilize campus resources for data collection and AI/ML projects aimed at fostering innovation. Dr. Krishnaprasad shared his research and development experiences, motivating students to become involved in R&D activities. Dr. Shareefraju J. Ukkund delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the management and principal for their unwavering support. He also thanked the organizing committee, resource persons, IEEE coordinators, participants, distinguished guests, and supportive staff. The workshop successfully provided comprehensive insights into the impact of AI and ML in healthcare, inspiring future advancements and fostering collaborations in this dynamic field.
