On October 21, 2024, the Department of CSE (ICSB) in collaboration with the ICSB Club conducted a session titled “Cyber Shield: Protect Your Digital Frontiers” as part of the Cyber Month celebrations. The event was led by Mr. Altaf Hussain Balsing, a recognized figure in the field of cybersecurity.
The session began with an introduction to various cyber-attacks and the increasing need for cybersecurity awareness. Mr. Altaf emphasized the importance of vigilance in the digital world, providing practical tips on how to protect oneself from online threats. He also discussed the process of filing cybercrime complaints, outlining the steps individuals should take to ensure quick and effective responses to cyber incidents.
A highlight of the session was a discussion on Google Timelines and Maps Tracking, where attendees were made aware of how these platforms track user activities and the potential privacy concerns they raise. Mr. Altaf also encouraged participants to pursue certifications in cybersecurity and participate in bug bounty programs, which offer opportunities to gain hands-on experience in ethical hacking.
