Unlock Exciting Career Paths in MEP for Mechanical Engineers

As part of the PACENEXT Alumni Conclave, a series of technical and career-oriented talks organized from 17th to 21st February 2025, the Department of Mechanical Engineering at P.A. College of Engineering (PACE) hosted an insightful session titled "Unlock Exciting Career Paths in MEP for Mechanical Engineers" on 19th February 2025.
The invited talk featured Mr. Mohammed Thayub, an esteemed alumnus and the Head of MEP, CRCC, KSA. The session, held in the CIM lab at 11:30 AM, aimed to provide students with valuable insights into the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) sector, highlighting industry trends, required skill sets, and global career opportunities for mechanical engineers.
The session commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Abdul Razak, Alumni Coordinator, who introduced the distinguished resource person of the day.
During his talk, Mr. Mohammed Thayub covered key aspects of MEP careers, including:
Fundamentals of MEP Engineering: An overview of the role of mechanical engineers in designing, installing, and maintaining MEP systems.
Industry Trends & Technological Advancements: Emerging technologies such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), energy-efficient HVAC systems, and automation in MEP services.
Career Opportunities & Skill Development: Guidance on certifications, software proficiency, and industry-specific knowledge required to excel in the MEP sector.
Project Management & Global Opportunities: Insights into large-scale infrastructure projects and the growing demand for skilled MEP professionals in international markets.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions and asking questions related to MEP design, job prospects, and the future scope of the industry. Mr. Mohammed Thayub emphasized the importance of continuous learning, gaining practical exposure, and acquiring relevant certifications such as LEED, ASHRAE, and AutoCAD MEP to enhance career prospects.
To honor his contribution, a memento was presented to Mr. Mohammed Thayub by the Principal, Dr. Ramis M.K, as a token of appreciation. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Prof. Chethan, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, dignitaries, faculty members, and students for their active participation. Prof. Dr. Abdul Razak, Alumni Coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering Department, coordinated the event, ensuring its smooth execution.
