Invited talk on “Semiconductor Industry and Fabrication Process” – A PACENEXT Alumni Conclave Event

As part of the PACENEXT Alumni Conclave, a series of technical talks by alumni from various departments held from 17th to 21st February, the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC) at P. A. College of Engineering (PACE) organized an invited talk on "Semiconductor Industry and Fabrication Process" on 19th February 2025. The session, conducted under the PACENEXT Alumni Association, was held in Lecture Hall 24 and featured Mr. Pavan R, an alumnus of the EC 2015 batch and currently Senior Design Engineer at Karmic Design Pvt. Ltd, Manipal. The audience primarily comprised 3rd year EC students, eager to gain insights into the semiconductor industry and fabrication processes.
The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Asif Hassan (HOD-EC), Dr. Asiya Hazareena, Prof. Mohammed Hussain K, and Prof. Mohammed Saleem. The session began with a welcome address by Prof. Mohammed Hussain K, who introduced the speaker and highlighted his achievements in the industry.
Mr. Pavan R started his talk by explaining the fundamentals of the semiconductor industry, its rapid growth, and its critical role in modern technology. He provided insights into various stages of semiconductor fabrication, including wafer manufacturing, lithography, doping, etching, deposition, and packaging. He also discussed cutting-edge trends such as advancements in nanotechnology, the impact of AI and ML in semiconductor design, and the future of semiconductor fabrication in India.
The session was highly interactive, with students actively engaging in discussions, asking questions about career paths in the semiconductor industry, industry trends, and preparation strategies for job placements.
To mark the occasion, a memento was presented to Mr. Pavan R by Dr. Ramis M. K., Principal-PACE, as a token of appreciation for his valuable insights. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Asiya Hazareena, who expressed gratitude to the speaker, dignitaries, faculty members, and students for making the session a success.
The talk was highly informative and inspiring, equipping students with practical knowledge on the semiconductor industry and encouraging them to explore new career opportunities. The event was coordinated by Prof. Mohammed Saleem, ensuring its smooth execution under the PACENEXT Alumni Association.
