Invited Talk and Interactive Session: Advancing Knowledge in Information Security and Cybersecurity Architecture

An invited talk and interactive session on "Information Security and Cybersecurity Architecture" was held on 19.12.2024 at PA College of Engineering. The event featured distinguished resource persons Dr. Liqaa Navaf, Faculty and Programme Director, Computer Security, Cardiff Metropolitan University- UK and Dr. Vibhushinie B, Faculty and Programme Director, Advanced Computer Security , CMU -UK with Guests of Honour Dr. A.M. Khan ,Professor, Department of Electronics ,Mangalore University and Dr. B.H. Shekhar, Professor , Department of Computer Science , Mangalore University . Students and faculty members actively participated in the session, which commenced with a prayer by Prof Saifuddin, followed by a warm welcome and floral greetings by Dr. Sharmila Kumari M, Vice Principal and Head of CSE Department.
Dr. A.M. Khan provided a preamble, emphasizing the collaborative initiatives between Mangalore University and Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK, with PA College as a notable cluster institution.
Dr. Vibhushinie B delivered an engaging session focused on Information Security. She detailed validation processes, including Cyber Essentials—a certification-based agreement—and Cyber Essentials Plus, involving officer-led security validations. She also highlighted the ISO 27000 framework, outlining its 11 sections and annex, with Sections 4-10 deemed mandatory for implementation. The session included an interactive component where students posed insightful questions, fostering an enriching dialogue.
The event concluded with a felicitation ceremony for the speakers and Guests of Honour, acknowledging their contributions. A heartfelt vote of thanks was delivered by Ms Varsha, expressing gratitude to the delegates and the participants. Seamlessly compered by Prof. Fathimath Raihan, the program underscored the importance of robust cybersecurity practices, leaving a lasting impact on the audience and paving the way for further discussions in the field.
