Invited talk on “From Concepts to Creation: A Junior Project Engineers Role in a Tech Incubator"

On February 20, 2025, the Department of Biotechnology at P.A. College of Engineering, Mangaluru, hosted an engaging session titled "From Concepts to Creation: A Junior Project Engineers Role in a Tech Incubator". The event was organized by the Department of Biotechnology as a part of the PACE Alumni Conclave. The keynote speaker for the session was Ms. Fida Rukya PI, Junior Project Engineer at Yenepoya Technology Incubator, Yenepoya University, Derlakatte.
The session aimed to shed light on the crucial role junior project engineers play in facilitating innovation, supporting startups, and transforming ideas into reality within the tech incubation ecosystem.
The event began with a welcome speech by Ms. Shainy Mathew, who greeted the attendees and set the stage for the session. She underscored the importance of fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among young engineers, particularly through technology incubation programs.
Following the welcome address, Dr. Krishna Prasad N delivered the preamble, providing an overview of technology incubators and their role in nurturing innovation. He emphasized how junior project engineers contribute at every stage of the innovation process, from ideation to product development. Dr. Prasad highlighted the university’s and the Department of Biotechnology’s commitment to supporting entrepreneurial initiatives and fostering interdisciplinary learning.
In her keynote presentation, Ms. Fida Rukya PI shared her experiences working at Yenepoya Technology Incubator. Her presentation covered the following key areas:
1. Ideation and Problem-Solving: Ms. Rukya explained how junior project engineers work with innovators to refine ideas and identify solutions to technical challenges.
2. Prototype Development: She described the iterative process of developing prototypes, testing concepts, and using feedback to improve the final product.
3. Collaboration and Coordination: Ms. Rukya highlighted the importance of teamwork, mentorship, and resource management in ensuring the successful execution of projects.
4. Challenges and Success Stories: Sharing anecdotes from her own experiences, she provided insight into overcoming resource constraints and technical difficulties while working in a tech incubator.
Ms. Rukya concluded her session by encouraging students and aspiring engineers to explore roles in technology incubators for hands-on experience and exposure to innovation ecosystems.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Shabeeba V, Coordinator of the BT Alumni Conclave. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Fida Rukya, the event organizers, and all attendees for their enthusiastic participation. Ms. Shabeeba also acknowledged the Department of Biotechnology and the PACE Alumni Conclave for providing a platform for knowledge-sharing and professional development.
