The Department of Civil Engineering at PA College of Engineering, Mangalore, organized a program on Promoting Environmental Awareness and Responsible Waste Management on February 25, 2025, at Government High School-Konaje, Mangalore. The initiative aimed to instil environmental consciousness among school students, educate them on responsible waste management practices, and foster meaningful interaction between engineering and school students.

The program began with a welcome speech by Mubarish, a VI semester Civil Engineering student, who set the tone for an engaging and informative session. This was followed by an interactive discussion where engineering students presented a detailed overview of solid waste management. The session encouraged active participation from approximately 50 school students, who eagerly interacted with the presenters, demonstrating a keen interest in learning about sustainable waste management practices.

The event concluded with a keynote address by Prof. Chethan K., who summarized the key takeaways and reinforced the importance of responsible waste management. Smt. Gayatri, Headmistress of GHS Konaje, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the significance of such programs, which align with VTU University guidelines. She highlighted the positive impact of conducting awareness initiatives at the school level.

The program ended on a note of gratitude, with Mr. Rizwan delivering the vote of thanks, acknowledging the efforts of all participants and organizers. The event was efficiently coordinated by Prof. Jameela and Prof. Kavyashree, ensuring a smooth and impactful execution.

The initiative successfully contributed to spreading awareness about environmental responsibility and waste management, inspiring young minds to adopt sustainable practices for a cleaner and healthier future.
