P.A. College of Engineering is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum and recognised by Government of Karnataka.

Seat Allotment

The allotment and distribution of the seats are as follows

  • Common Entrance Test (CET) by Government of Karnataka - 40% Seats
  • Management Quota – 60% Seats

CET admissions procedure

CET is conducted every year by the government of Karnataka through the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Only Karnataka students can appear for this entrance exam.

The seat allocation depends on the rank and choice of the student. The fee structure is decided by the Govt. of Karnataka every year.

Management quota admissions procedure

Candidates interested to join under management/ NRI quota has to collect the Brochure and application forms from the Admissions Office and submit the duly filled in forms along with the documents required and photographs. After the document verification, they have to attend the counselling session. Admission slip/ Payment receipts need to be retained for future reference.

Eligibility

The candidate shall have passed the Second year Pre-University of XII std or equivalent examinations with physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Electronics and shall have secured not less than 45% of the aggregate marks in optional subjects with English as one of the languages of the study. 40% marks in case of Karnataka candidates who belong to SC, ST and OBC.

Analog Electronics Circuits (AEC) Lab:

This is an introductory experimental laboratory that explores the design, construction, and debugging of analog electronic circuits. The course provides opportunity to investigate the performance characteristics of diodes, transistors and JFETs etc.

Logic Design (LD) Lab:

The objective of this lab is to make students familiar with different types of designs as logic gates, sequential logic circuits and combinational logic circuits. Students design and implement different digital circuits.

Microcontroller (MC) Lab:

This course makes the students familiarize with programming and interfacing microcontroller 8051 and MSP430 using ASM and embedded C. Simulations are done using the software KIEL.

Hardware description language (HDL) Lab:

The purpose of this lab is to introduce HDL’s such as VHDL and Verilog simulation and synthesis using Xilinx software. HDL is an industry-standard language for modeling and synthesizing digital hardware, particularly for programmable logic or Application Specific Integrated Circuits.

Analog communication + Linear integrated circuits (AC + LIC) Lab:

The course explores the design, construction, and debugging of analog communication circuits, linear integrated circuit design and 555 Timer. This lab introduces student to the field of communication.

Digital signal processing (DSP) Lab:

This lab deals with the processing of signals using digital techniques or digital computers. Simulations are performed using MATLAB software. Students also implement the experiments using DSP kits.

In this lab students study the latest communication technique such as optical fiber communication technique, microwave communication techniques etc.

Microprocessor (MP) Lab:

In the past few years or so, microprocessors in general have brought about a revolution in computer science. In this lab Intel microprocessor 8086 is studied and programmed using MASM software. Students also made aware of interfacing experiments with microprocessors.

VLSI Lab:

This lab gives the idea to the students about the basic CMOS integrated Circuit design, simulation, and testing techniques. Basic Objectives of this lab to explore various design style of simple and complex Integrated Circuits(IC) near to students. Some of the tools from Cadence Development System have been used to study and design analog and digital VLSI circuits.

Power electronics (PE) Lab:

The lab aims at teaching the students about the characteristics of different power electronics devices such as SCR, IGBT, UJT, MOSFET etc. This lab is well equipped with various power electronics kits for the analysis, design, and operation of power electronic circuits.

The saying “Well begun is half done” is very relevant to the students of 2nd year E&C, as they began the new academic year 2015-2016 with a “Self-changing Orientation Program” conducted bythe Department of Electronics and Communication under the guidance of Prof. Muhammed Rafeeq on 13th August 2015 in the Multi-Purpose hall.

Inaugural Function of EC Forum 'Ignited Minds Of Electronics'

The department of Electronics and Communication of P. A. College of Engineering inaugurated the EC Forum ‘Ignited Minds of Electronics’ (IME) on 19th September 2015. (The name commemorates our beloved late Dr. Abdul Kalam) . The Forum was inaugurated by alumni and renowned young industrialist of Mangalore Mr. Iqbal Ahmed Moyinuddin , Managing Director, TechnoPulse. In his inaugural address Mr. Moyinuddin vividly narrated of how to go about self-employment , start an industry and find success in it, citing his own experience and example. The speech was truly inspirational.

College of Engineering had organized a two day workshop on Robotics in Collaboration with the Microsoft Education Partner, Virscent Technologies Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai. Mr. Alok Kumar,Technical Manager , Virscent technologies inaugurated the event.

The workshop was conducted in two modules. Basic Module was for lower semester students and advanced module was for final year students. The students of P.A. College of Engineering along with students from some of the neighboring Engineering colleges had participated in the two day event.

The STUDENT FORUM IME (IGNITED MINDS OF ELECTRONICS) OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT, P. A. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING HAD ORGANIZED A WORKSHOP ON GOOGLE APPS ON 11TH NOVEMBER 2016. THE WORKSHOP WAS INAUGURATED BY MR. PRAKASH SHEETY, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING.

HEAD START FOR PROJECT

The STUDENT FORUM IME (IGNITED MINDS OF ELECTRONICS) OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT, P. A. COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING HAD ORGANIZED A WORKSHOP ON PROJECT ORIENTATION.THE WORKSHOP WAS CONDUCTED IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ON OCTOBER 20TH 2016.


Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

  • To prepare the students to acquire strong background in mathematics, basic science and ability to use these tools in the field of Electronics and Communication engineering.
  • To prepare the students well equipped with technical competence in the fields of Electronics and Communication engineering and develop solutions to solve the problem in areas of electronics and communication engineering.
  • To prepare the students in order to achieve professional leadership qualities to deliver effectively in multi-disciplinary team.
  • To prepare students to attain ethical values and moral behavior.
