Department of Physics

Physics is the most fundamental of all the sciences because the ideas of physics underlie the other basic sciences as well as engineering and modern technology. The world of physics ranges from the smallest particles of subatomic matter to the galaxies. Physicists conduct research into the fundamental laws of nature or use existing knowledge about the physical world to develop applications and to design new products.

The Department of Physics has well equipped laboratory for the students to conduct practicals as per VTU. The faculty consists of physicists, dedicated to quality undergraduate education and to the advancement of knowledge in physics. The Physics department has well qualified and dedicated faculty members and technical staff. The Department has been maintaining excellent results both in theory and practical examinations from the beginning of the establishment of the college. The staff members play the multifaceted role of a teacher, mentor and a friend. They involve themselves in the welfare of the students. A very good teacher – student interaction resulted in good academic performance of the students. The Physics department has very good infrastructure with a working area of 2000 sq ft consisting of a laboratory, dark room and store room. A large number of students make use of the departmental library.

Head
Department of Physics

It is my pleasure and honour to welcome you to the Department of Physics at P.A. College of Engineering, Mangaluru. Physics is one of the subjects in Engineering Curriculum where each and every student has to study in I/II semester. This subject will definitely help a student to be strong in the basic knowledge that is essential for technical expertise.

I believe that the teaching-learning process, coupled with practical experience, equips the students to handle the challenges posed by the industry. With our distinct student centered teaching-learning methodology, the students will be able to face challenges of life with confidence. We encourage students to indulge in extracurricular activities to shape them as leaders of tomorrow so as to equip themselves with modern and sensitive outlook to face the challenges of the competitive world.
