Ignite23: A Three Days Workshop Sparked the Flame in Tech

GLUG PACE at P. A. College of Engineering hosted Ignite23, a three-day event from November 21, 2023, to November 23, 2023, tailored for second-year Computer Science Students. This enriching experience featured insights from distinguished external speakers, including Mr. Jaison Dias and Mr. John Fernandes, along with notable representatives from Free Software Movement of Karnataka (FSMK), Mr. Rameez Thonnakkal, and Mr. Ravish Shankar, complemented by fellow Glug members. Ignite23 was primarily characterized by its emphasis on peer-to-peer learning, fostering a dynamic and collaborative environment. The resounding success of the event is a testament to the dedication of Glug members and the Computer Science department. It was a truly impactful and engaging learning experience.
Day 1 -Ignite23: Inaugurates a Journey into Open Source, Docker, and Web Development Excellence
The inaugural day, orchestrated by Shabnaz as the MC, commenced with an enthusiastic welcome, followed by an insightful session led by Jaison Dias on the impact and journey of open-source contributions. Jaison illuminated the mechanics of GitHub, guiding attendees on contributing to open-source projects. After a refreshing break, Muad led a prayer, and Saniha, the Vice President of GLUG Pace, extended a warm welcome. Principal Dr. Ramis M.K and Vice Principal Dr. Shamila Kumari shared their insights, and guest speaker Mr. Jaison Dias added valuable thoughts. The winner of the photography contest, Deepushree HP, received recognition. Mr. John Fernandes delved into Docker in the second session, and Prof. Mohammed Hafeez honored him with a memento. The afternoon session focused on Web Dev 101, with resource persons Mohammed Azlan, Sheik Rifaz Ali, and Rabeeh TA providing practical knowledge in web development.
Ignite23 Day 1 concluded with a valedictory program, where Shakeel, the Vice President of GLUG Pace, delivered a vote of thanks, marking the day as a successful journey into the realms of open-source, Docker, and web development.
Day 2 - Ignite23: A Deep Dive into FOSS and LlaMa
The second day of Ignite23, held at P. A. College of Engineering, began with a hands-on session on Bootstrap, setting the stage for a day of valuable insights and practical learning. Two distinguished speakers, Mr. Rameez Thonnakkal and Mr. Ravish Shankar, guided the audience through the importance of FOSS and introduced the intriguing concept of LlaMa. The day continued with a hands-on LlaMa session in the novel lab, providing participants with practical experience. The valedictory program featured a prayer led by Muadh, a warm welcome by Saniya, and momentos presented to both speakers. Shakeel expressed gratitude, and students positive feedback underscored the success of the day.
Day 3 - Ignite23: Navigating Git and GitHub
The concluding day of Ignite23 focused on a hands-on session unraveling the intricacies of Git and GitHub. Facilitated by Glug members Mohammed Azlan, Sheik Rifaz Ali, and Rabeeh TA, students delved into version control and collaborative coding. The session covered GitHub commands, essential terminologies, and assisted students in obtaining the GitHub Student Developer Pack. The valedictory program marked the end, with Muad leading a prayer, Saniya Mariyam extending a warm welcome, and students sharing feedback. Core Glug members were recognized, and the principal delivered words of encouragement. Shakeel Abdulla concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all involved in making Ignite23 an exceptional learning journey.
