IGNITE - A Spark towards Freedom
On 10th of August 2016, GLUG PACE, a community of students has hosted an event for the GLUG activities, IGNITE- A Spark towards Freedom for the academic year 2016 in P. A. College of Engineering. This event was organized for spreading awareness of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) among students of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Science & Engineering of the college. This Function was presided by Mr. P A Abdulla Ibrahim, Executive Director, and Dr. Abdul Sharief, Principal, Dr. Ramis M K, Vice Principal, Mr.Shashank Chrakravathy resource person and an Executive member of FSMK, Dr. Zahid Ansari, Dean-Research, Prof. Surfraz Hasim J, Director-Academics, Dr. M Sharmila Kumari, Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering were present on the dais. Mr. P A Abdulla Ibrahim, Executive Director, guided the students to acquire knowledge to take up responsible positions in IT industries. Dr. Abdul Sharief, Principal advised the students to learn about future technologies for their better career in this competitive environment. Dr. Ramis M K advised the students to acquire these additional technical skills which help for their better career. Dr. M Sharmila Kumari, Head of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering gave an introductory talk of IGNITE. Ms. Indhu was the master of the ceremony; the welcome speech was given by Ms.Akshatha and vote of thanks by Ms.Jyothsna.
In this GLUG event more than 150 enthusiastic students of Computer Science and Information Science were present to know about FOSS. Mr. Sushin P V, Mr.Shaheer and Mr.Manikanta gave introduction to Linux and provided a brief description how GLUG is been associated with FSMK. Mr.Shashank Chrakravathy an Executive member of FSMK gave a talk which was very informative to the students. Ms.Krithi Shetty gave an introduction about Python and that was continued by Mr.Shashank by conducting an activity to the students where they participated actively and came up with various solutions. The efforts of GLUG PACE were highly appreciated with the dignitaries present. GLUG PACE will continue the path of spreading knowledge and teach FOSS to student community
